Piansano wind farm (Viterbo)
The largest CVA wind farm is located in the municipalities of Piansano and Arlena di Castro, in the province of Viterbo. It was built by the Danish company Vestas Italia S.r.l., one of the leading suppliers of wind power plants in Europe and the world.
The plant consists of 21 Vestas wind turbines, model V90 of 2 MW each, with a total capacity of 42 MW. Each tower has a height of about 80 meters and the rotors have a diameter of 90 meters.
Based on the wind characteristics of the site - identified after several years of evaluation - a wind power output of about 80 GWh per year is expected, comparable to the electricity needs of about 26,700 households. The reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere exceeds 88,000 tons/year.
