Montjovet Power Plant
The Montjovet run-of-river hydroelectric plant is located in the municipality bearing the same name. Its territory is very large: 18 km2 between plains and hills. Montjovet is a run-of-river power plant located near the Dora Baltea River.
In 1966 it was rebuilt by reusing the site and part of the structures of the old power plant dating back to the early twentieth century. Among the works carried out, the existing weir was upgraded, the intake structure was enlarged, as well as the spillway and the loading tank, to allow the derived flow rate to be increased to 110 m3/s (previously it was only 32).
The existing pipeline was reused as a complementary spillway of the forebay reservoir, to ensure continuity of flow to the Hône plant, even in case of short outages of the generator sets. In order to build the new 220,000-volt outdoor electrical station and the new engine room building, the yard was enlarged by modifying the Dora Baltea riverbed.
The power output of the Montjovet power plant is 50 MW, thanks to Francis turbines.
