Zuino Power Plant
The Zuino run-of-river hydroelectric power plant was built in 1958 in the municipality of Gaby. It preceded the commissioning of the Sendren plant above it by one year: these are two plants that are constructively the same except for the different flow rates and power ratings.
Peculiar in the Zuino plant is the Bielciuken reservoir, which unlike others is not part of the Lys stream bed, but is a large concrete basin built alongside the stream, fed through the weir on the stream and related intake structure. Equally special is the penstock that feeds the generator unit, installed in a dedicated shaft between the forebay reservoir and the plant.
Renewable hydropower generation at this power plant is made possible by two Pelton turbines and once ready is fed into the national grid at a voltage of 132 kV.
